Berlin!

Tomorrow I will be looking at the Brandenburger gate and eating Wiener Würstchen

 in Berlin! This will be one short but hopefully, very productive holiday. Here are some of my

favorite images from Berliners' apartments (and workspaces) from the beautiful and very 

intellectual Freunde von Freunden. I hope to see lots of art and great design in this vibrant city.

Don't know about you, but for me the weekend came with the speed of light.
Soon, very soon I'll be in the gloriously green countryside, swimming in the lake and
consuming great amounts of fresh fruit and vegetables - at a table just like the ones I'm
posting here. Ah, c'est la vie!
I am a big fan of this type of table; not only it is unpretentious and comfortable,
but also doesn't need much care and only gets better with age.

Nežinau kaip jums, bet man savaitgalis atėjo šviesos greičiu. Jau tuoj tuoj būsiu kaime, 

maudysiuos ežere ir valgysiu didžiulius kiekius šviežių vaisių ir daržovių - prie tokio stalo,

 kokius čia postinu. Ech, gyvenimėlis! 

Labai mėgstu tokius kaimiškus stalus: jie neįpareigojantys, patogūs, nereikalauja priežiūros 

ir su amžiumi tik gražėja.

Black kitchen cabinets

Don't they look cool, these black kitchen cabinets? My favorite is Nr. 4, for three
 reasons: metro tiles (I still can't get enough of those), the lighting solution and the
woodsy texture of the cabinets. Because lovely as they are, those glossy black
surfaces, I'd rather spend my time cooking than polishing them. But maybe it's just
 me who's not able to cook anything without leaving half of it on the surfaces...

Argi ne kietai atrodo šios juodos virtuvės? Mano favoritė Nr.4, dėl trijų priežasčių: 

metro plytelių (man jos niekaip nepabosta), originalaus apšvietimo ir matinio

 juodo spintelių paviršiaus su matoma medžio faktūra. Gražu ir praktiška, nes kad 

ir kaip man patiktų blizgūs juodi paviršiai, visai nenoriu jų blizginti. Bet gal čia tik aš 

nemoku gaminti maisto, neištaškius pusės ant paviršių...

Before you know it, Monday is back again. Got to move, got to get things done!

Argh, it's a never-ending story, isn't it...

Black&white is such a great color combination to adopt in the office (or home office).

Personally, I find it easier to concentrate in such monochrome environments. 

Also, it really helps avoid clutter: you tend to hide from view things that do no fit 

the color scheme, which means less things in general. Natural wood elements 

(or a plain woven paper basket) add a lot of warmth.

Nespėji nei susivokti, o pirmadienis jau čia! Vėl reikia judėti, daryti, įgyvendinti 

planus...Ech, nesibaigianti istorija. 

Šiandien postinu keletą stilingų juodai baltų ofisų. Pastebėjau, kad man lengviau 

susikaupti tokiose monochrominėse erdvėse. Be to, palaikant minimalią spalvų

schemą lengviau tvarkytis ir sumažėja daiktų: tiesiog tie, kurie netinka, slepiami 

stalčiuose ir spintelėse (arba išvis iškeliauja). Kaupti tampa sunkiau, o tai aktualu

 tokioms kaupėjoms, kaip aš. Juoda-baltą foną puikiai "praskiedžia" šilti natūralaus 

medžio elementai arba tiesiog grubi pintinė popieriui mesti.

Romancing turquoise

Admitting I like turquoise usually makes me feel a bit guilty. When did this

 color's reputation become so tainted? 'Serious' design is very good at avoiding it, 

so it mainly meanders in shabby chic territory. Maybe because it is so 

unabashedly romantic? True, turquoise can be a bit kitsch, but so can any color 

when it's badly presented. Here's my collection of turquoise bits and pieces -

 decide for yourself! (It is summer after all, we should be allowed a little

 romantic folly)

Paprastai man truputį gėda prisipažinti, kad man patinka turkio spalva. Kada jos reputacija 

buvo taip sugadinta? Kažkodėl "geras rimtas" dizainas šią spalvą labai sėkmingai ignoruoja,

 tad ją dažniausiai galima rasti shabby chic teritorijoje. Gal dėl to, kad ji taip akiplėšiškai

 romantiška? Na taip, kartais ji atrodo kičinė, bet juk bet kurią spalvą galima, labai norint, 

sugadinti. Pateikiu savo turkio trupinėlių ir gabalėlių kolekciją, spręskite patys. (Pagaliau, 

juk vasara! Galime sau leisti daugiau romantinių nukrypimų)
